Swiss Machining

We machine small-diameter components with tight tolerances and complex geometries, all in a single setup for greater precision and repeatability.

Swiss Machining That Delivers Accuracy at Scale

Motion Dynamics offers precision Swiss machining for small-diameter components with demanding tolerance and complexity requirements. Our multi-axis Swiss lathes enable complete machining in a single setup, minimizing handling and ensuring repeatability. We routinely work with diameters ranging from 0.010“ to 0.250“ and maintain tolerances as tight as ±0.0001“. Features such as cross-holes, threads, and intricate geometries are produced with consistency across a variety of challenging materials, including Nitinol, stainless steels, and titanium.

This capability supports both prototype and production volumes with short lead times and a focus on design flexibility. In-process quality controls ensure dimensional accuracy and cosmetic quality throughout production. Swiss machining integrates seamlessly with our other core processes, enabling tight alignment between formed and machined features. It is especially suited for high-precision applications that require repeatable performance and robust process control.

Materials expertise, paired with deep forming experience, allows us to support demanding geometries with consistent results. Our team collaborates closely with engineers to design and refine forming solutions tailored to the mechanical and thermal demands of the application. We often integrate Nitinol forming with mechanical joining solutions to support sub-assembly integration and functional performance. Whether the part needs to actuate, flex, or recover shape in response to heat, we deliver highly engineered Nitinol forms that perform reliably in the field.
